First time at Junction
I got accepted to Junction a few days ago. It is the first time I am going, and I have spent years deliberately staying away from this kind of thing.
Not out of principle exactly. The scene around startups has always looked to me like it rewards talking about building more than building, and I did not want to spend a weekend performing. Everything I have made was made quietly, on my own money, and the feedback that mattered came from customers rather than from a room.
What changed is that I have something now. Selda exists and it is in production, so I am not turning up with a deck and an intention. I am going in on the go-to-market side rather than as the one writing the code. That is the part I actually know, and it is the part most teams leave until last and then wonder why nothing moved.
Team is Rolling 630. The challenges are not published yet, so nobody knows what anyone is building. We are not going there to find out what a hackathon is. We are going with years of work behind us and one thing to do properly.
I might not like it, and that would also be information. What I would rather find is that I have been wrong about it for years. I genuinely hope I have been.
The buzz around this world is the part I avoid, because it is not necessarily real. The problems are. You pick one and you solve it, and then you pick the next one. If the weekend turns out to be about that, I will have been wrong in the best way.
